Gas-tight. Corrosion-free. Permanently.
Saurabh Shaktiman MDPE gas pipes — IS 14885 certified PE 80 / PE 100, SDR 11 to SDR 21, 20 mm to 630 mm. For city gas distribution, CNG and LPG networks.
Steel gas mains corrode. PE gas mains do not.
Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) has been the material of choice for natural gas distribution worldwide for over 50 years. It is chemically inert, immune to electrochemical corrosion, flexible enough to absorb ground movement and weldable to a leak-free monolithic joint. Saurabh Shaktiman MDPE gas pipes are manufactured to IS 14885 in PE 80 and PE 100 compound for Indian city gas distribution and LPG networks.
Gas pipe installation is a regulated activity in India — all works must be carried out by PNGRB-approved entities and contractors trained per IS 14901. Signet supplies pipes to licensed CGD entities and approved contractors only.
Four reasons gas utilities choose PE.
Corrosion-free permanently
PE is immune to electrochemical corrosion — unlike steel gas mains that require sacrificial anodes, coating and periodic inspection for rust.
Gas-tight at the joint
Butt fusion and electrofusion joints create a monolithic bond — the same material as the pipe. No gaskets, no leak path at fittings.
Flexible — no thrust blocks needed
MDPE's flexibility allows the pipe to accommodate ground movement and thermal expansion inline — eliminates thrust blocks and expansion loops.
50+ year design life
PE 80 and PE 100 compounds are proven in gas service for over 50 years — major gas utilities worldwide use MDPE as the standard for new networks.

Three ways to join — one leak-free result.
Butt Fusion
Pipe ends heated on a mirror plate and pressed together — forms a monolithic continuous weld across the full pipe bore. Standard for pipes 63 mm and above in straight runs.
Machine-controlled — operator qualification required per IS 14901
Electrofusion
Resistance wire embedded in fittings heats the joint from the inside — used for saddle tees, branch connections and tight-space joints where butt fusion is not practical.
Barcode-controlled welding parameters — full traceability
Compression Fittings
Mechanical compression fittings for small-diameter service connections (20–63 mm) — no heat equipment needed. Used for house service connections off the distribution main.
PE-approved fittings only — approved manufacturers listed in IS 14885
