Joining Methods

Three ways to connect.

IS 4985 PVC pressure pipes support three standard joining techniques — each suited to different site conditions, pipe sizes and installation requirements.

Solvent Cement Joining

The most common method — a solvent cement is applied to the pipe end and fitting socket, creating a strong, leak-free chemical bond. Fast and widely used for pressure piping.

Rubber Ring-Seal Joining

A rubber ring gasket seated in the fitting socket provides the seal. The pipe end is pushed into the socket — no cement required. Ideal for larger diameters and systems requiring flexibility.

Mechanical Coupling

Compression fittings or mechanical couplings used where pipes need to be joined or repaired in the field without adhesives — convenient for temporary connections or maintenance.

Manufacturing Process

From resin to pipe in three controlled stages.

1. Resin Compounding

DCW-sourced K-67 PVC resin blended with stabilisers, lubricants and impact modifiers under tightly-controlled conditions.

2. Twin-Screw Extrusion

Continuous extrusion through precision dies, vacuum-calibrated for dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

3. Hydrostatic & Batch Testing

Every batch hydrostatically tested per IS 4985, with statistical sampling for wall thickness, density and impact.
